Additional services include:

  • weekly food organics and garden organics (FOGO)
  • weekly general waste collection
  • additional fortnightly 240L general waste
  • additional fortnightly 240L recycling

Why did the commercial waste service change?

Wagga Wagga City Council is committed to reducing waste to landfill.  The commercial waste service encourages and supports commercial properties to separate their waste with the introduction of a recycling bin as part of the standard service in 2018.

Around one third of all waste to landfill is generated in the commercial sector and waste audits indicate there are opportunities to divert this waste through better waste management. The NSW Government has set targets for waste through the NSW Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2014-2021. By 2020, the aim is to achieve a recovery rate of 70 per cent, which simply means that by 2020 70 per cent of waste generated through commercial and industrial operations will be recycled or recovered for reuse. Currently the recovery rate in Wagga Wagga is around 40 per cent.
